    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Collaboratively provides clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
    • Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders.
    • Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate pulmonary function equipment.
    • Set up and operate respiratory devices such as pulmonary function testing equipment.
    • Inspect, clean, test and maintain pulmonary function equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, facilitating repairs when necessary.
    • Performs necessary quality assurance processes, as directed by equipment manufacturer and clinical practice.
    • Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.
    • Explain treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation and alleviate fears and apprehension.
    • Perform pulmonary function testing and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results in therapy.
    • Demonstrate respiratory care procedures, including pulmonary function testing techniques, to trainees and other healthcare personnel.
    • Triage adult and pediatric patients and obtain vital signs, record medical history & confirm purpose of visit.
    • Draw blood and assist with various skills.
    • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization tools and equipment as required.
    • Administer medications as directed by physician.
    • Comply with legal regulations to maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment for staff and patients.
    • Monitor supplies and appropriately advise as needed regarding inventory orders.
    • Practice common safety hazards and precautions.
    • Maintain medical records while adhering with HIPAA compliance.
    • Assist with prescription needs and refills.


    Skills & Qualifications

    • Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • Minimum 1-2 years respiratory care experience.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist with current Texas RCP license.
    • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association at hire.
    • Knowledge of medical practice and medical terminology.
    • Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
