    Responsibilities

    We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an Office Based Medical Coder working in our North Texas Perinatal Associates (NTPA) billing office located in Dallas, TX.  Coders on this team code Evaluation and Managements (E/Ms), Diagnosis (ICD10), and CPT Procedures and Modifiers from charts received by our perinatal practices throughout the area.  These records are then submitted to the Reimbursement Department for claim submission and billing.

    Qualifications

    The following are required for consideration:

    • Current CPC, COC, CCA, CCS-P, CCS, or RHIT Coding Certification.
    • 1 or more years' experience coding perinatal services preferred; will also consider experience coding general surgery, pain management, ob/gyn, or gynecological oncology services.
    • You need to know how to read a record and evaluate and code E/Ms and procedures from perinatology, general surgery, or pain management charts to bill the correct charges on a Superbill;
      • This is not straight data entry off of an encounter form or a superbill from what the surgeon told you to enter.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, and DX knowledgeable.
    • Analytical mindset, with great attention to detail.
    • Self-motivated, with proven ability to code with speed and accuracy.
    • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
    • Team player with great interpersonal skills.
    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and experience as detailed above.

    To be considered, candidates must submit verifiable prior employment for the past seven years including title, dates of hire and salary history and will be subject to a criminal background check.  Education is also verified.  Patient interfacing candidates will be subject to a drug screening.
