    We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Modeler located in Nashville, TN.


    The Data Modeler is responsible for understanding, developing and maintaining data definitions for tables and views in the data warehouse.  Additionally, position is responsible for understanding, communicating, and promoting to the enterprise on the semantic views model as well as assist teams and business areas with questions.


    • Execute and deliver solutions in an Agile scrum development environment by utilizing past experiences and knowledge sets.
    • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
    • Drive data analysis and modeling efforts and assist in the architecture, design and development of overall data foundation architecture.
    • Ownership of supporting artifacts required to communicate the vision and design.
    • Own the mapping documents from source to target system.
    • Ensure the models and processes are in conformance with relevant industry standards.
    • Ensure the underlying security architecture enables the relevant compliance needs like HIPAA, SOX, etc.
    • Create, author, and edit architecture documents, design documents, data flow diagrams, and system Run Books, and drive reviews for these deliverables as well as development work products, jobs/pipelines and mappings.
    • Define and ensure compliance to best practices, including driving and participating in design and code review sessions and process.
    • Participate in QA strategy and planning and play a role in the defect triage and prioritization process.
    • Establish, communicate and enforce best practices and standards.
    • Mentor and provide oversight to other members of the team.
    • Act as gate keeper and change agent for all data related tasks.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field from an accredited university or college.  Minimum five (5) years of experience, with emphasis of cloud and big data technologies work experience.  Healthcare experience preferred. 


    Computer Skills:

    Knowledge and experience with the following:

    • SQL query language skills
    • Modeling tools such as Erwin or IBM InfoSphere Data Architect
    • Data analysis and profiling tools
    • New and emerging data and analytics technologies (i.e. Hadoop, Spark, Elastic, AWS, etc.)
    • Developing in Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
    • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra
    • AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.


    Language Skills:

    Ability to understand, read, write and speak English.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to successfully write business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public. An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily-understood and actionable manner.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors.  Ability to make decisions weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions.  Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables.


    Other Qualifications:

    Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner.  Must be able to work well with and influence others.  Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized.  High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information.  Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency.  Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
