We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Payroll Specialist I!



The Payroll Specialist I is responsible for processing an accurate and timely payroll which involves multiple pay frequencies, companies, entities and state jurisdictions.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely payroll for multiple companies and multiple state jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of payroll compliance e.g., IRS rules and regulations, wage & hour laws, FLSA.
  • Knowledge of 941’s, federal and state unemployment taxes, and other payroll-related tax forms and rules. Assist with any needed reconciliations and amendments.
  • Reconcile state and federal unemployment gross wages.
  • Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Audit changes affecting payroll data.
  • Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions.
  • Issue manual checks, stop payments, ACH retrievals, void checks, as necessary.
  • Provides deadlines and communicates effectively with partnering departments
  • Ability to research and follow up with internal customer concerns and questions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide high level of customer service to internal customers
  • Reads and abides by the company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures and other corporate mandates, including participation in mandatory training programs
  • Reports any real or suspected violation of the corporate compliance program, company policies and procedures, harassment or other prohibited activities in accordance with the reporting policies of the company
  • Obtains clarification of policy whenever necessary and may use the resources available through the Compliance, Human Resources or Legal Department to do so

• Must have knowledge of payroll processing procedures.
• Must have strong math skills.
• Must have strong customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and adapt to changing environment and support multiple demands.
• Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.


• Associates Degree preferred, High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Two (2) or more years of payroll experience at a company with 1,000 or more


Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Payroll/HRIS System Module
• Oracle preferred
