We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an full-time Authorization / Insurance / Benefits Coordinator in Palm Beach Gardens, Stuart, Port St Lucie or Jupiter, FL.

The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for verifiying patient insurance and benefits, and requesting prior authorizations prior to the patient's appointment or procedure(s).  The Coordinator must follow procedures and processess to ensure accuracy in meeting guidelines and requesting reauthorization in a timely fashion.


Employment Status- Full-time, in office (This is NOT a remote position)

This is a Monday-Friday workweek.  No weekends are required!!



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Run daily reports for scheduled appointments or procedures.
  • Identify patients for their assigned medical office, and the procedure being done.
  • Verify patient’s insurance in chart is accurate, loaded correctly and active.
  • Verify services are covered by insurance.
  • Fill out appropriate insurance verification form(s) and upload to patient’s chart, if applicable.
  • Complete required benefit information in appropriate billing or EHR system, such as copay, coinsurance, deductible, insurance name and if services require preauthorization.
  • Submit for office visit authorizations, in a timely manner to PCP or insurance company depending on benefits requirements; allow for appropriate turnaround time .
  • Determine if preauthorization is required for all applicable procedures.
  • Ensure procedure ordered meets insurance company guidelines.
  • Follow insurance company or payor procedures for authorizations.
  • Monitor authorizations responses, upload it to patients’ chart and attach to the relevant appointment.
  • Follow appropriate procedures and process if an authorization is not received by the appropriate time prior to the scheduled appointment.
  • Follow up on any denials by supplying requested or missing information, or arrange for Peer to Peer, if appropriate.
  • Respond to offices and patient questions, complaints and concerns.
  • If applicable, coordinate with surgery centers submitting all required paperwork and pre-authorizations.
  • Request pre-authorization for MRI and other scans, when required.
  • Coordinate with other scheduling department to cancel or reschedule appointments, when necessary.




To perform this job successfully, an Authorization Coordinator must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced establishment.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Able to give and receive feedback professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to follow processes and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately, both written and orally.


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience is a plus

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • General computer and internet knowledge and skills required
